VOTE...VOTE...VOTE

Now that the wedding is over it's time to vote over renovation items.

I think the choice of bathtubs is a hard one because 1. buying online is less expensive, but you can't sit in them and give them a test drive 2. They aren't cheap, even online 3. They are hard to return if you don't like them.

I am a big advocate of buyers remorse. I have it all the time. In fact, Mike and I went down to the states to order kitchen cabinets. The next day I canceled the order. Mike thinks I'm nutso. Between hunger and a crying baby, I just don't feel like I was able to evaluate the cupboards well enough. And they are a LOT more expensive than a tub, and harder to return as a matter of fact. So, we are going with the $3000 cheaper Ikea cabinets and I'll just paint them. Eventually. Probably by the time Casey it 10.

What was I talking about...voting. Here are the contestants.

1. Classic pedestal cast iron tub. Beautiful, sit at either end, classic.

2. Ignore the ugliness the tub is inset into. Most affordable option. Notice where the overflow valve is set. Nice deep tub. Good sloping back.

3. Beautiful modern freestanding tub.

4. I didn't like this tub at first, but the more I look at it, the more I like it. I don't know why. Will dog hair get stuck under the slope at the bottom?

Not a tub, but a sink I WANT SO BAD!! I will give a dollar to anyone who can find it for me. I think it is a salvage school sink. Lethbridge doesn't have much for awesome flea market finds. When you do find a great item, you fall all over yourself trying to get it before someone does.

So VOTE!

Will you be bathing the baby in it? Deeper might make that harder...

I love the free standing options. That really narrows it down, huh? Depends on your other fixtures, but I guess if it were me I would go more classic (#1). It will go with everything.

Do you ever come to GF to shop? We should hook up for lunch if you do. Although I know how crazy day trips to GF can be.

Aesthetically I like them all! They are great! But #1 has my heart.

Can't wait to see what you choose! And, as far as bathing the baby. Do you have a puj tub? They are this brilliant piece of bathtub origami for babies+sinks. Awesome!

Joellyn, I was just in GF on Monday looking at the cabinets. Are you getting new cabinets for your house? You should go look at the ones at Probuild. I will definitely call you next time we are down. That would be fun!

Wendy, thanks for the info on the Puj Tub. So cool.

I always lean towards contemporary (#3), but #1 is also gorgeous. But #2 looks the most comfy. Which matters more to you? Don't ask me that question though, because that's always a struggle for me!

I love that style of sink too. For the stand, you could have it made, and possibly for around the same price as a purchased one. IKEA has a sink called the BRÅVIKEN, which isn't as deep, but similar and cool. Kohler also has a few rectangular white porcelain options.

You could ask the blogger at perfectsentiment.blogspot.com for ideas. She just remodeled her entire kitchen and her sink is large, white, deep, and rectangular. She might have some suggestions of where to look.

I want a concrete sink like the ones at PF Changs, but the one's I've found are waaaay expensive. Why is everything cool waaaaay expensive?

I can't say because except for my custom built bathroom cabinet and the wall hung toilets (which you should really consider because they are so easy to clean! We can just mop right under them.), I did everything in my bathroom pretty cheap. Especially the fixtures. The designer ones are SO expensive and I really just don't care. I wanted to spend my money elsewhere.

If I were doing tubs again I would get one of those Japanese tubs that are deep and small. You sit up in them and they use so much less water. I would take baths much more often if I had a tub like that. I saw them first in a book about how to teach babies to swim.

I definitely wouldn't spend this much!! http://www.signaturehardware.com/product10165?origin=product-search

Did you read my blog about the things I like and don't like about my house? I designed the absolute coolest bathroom cabinet that I have never blogged about. You should pester me into sending you a photo.

For what it's worth, today I looked at these tubs again and now I like #3 better.

We are replacing our kitchen cabinets but probably not until next winter. We are putting a kitchenette in the basement and are considering Ikea cabinets, but my dad is also interested in building them. We'll see. I have looked at Pro build and brought some books home.

I'm only an hour from GF so do give me a call!

I LOVE #1 So pretty.

But...I also like the clean, simple lines of number #2

Dang, that didn't help at all, did it?
